BOX by Great Lakes
BOX by Great Lakes.
No, we’re not talking about cardboard boxes that fall apart when left on a doorstep in the rain. We’re talking about US-manufactured metal cabinets meant to live life in the toughest outdoor conditions.
We’re talking about a BOX that withstands tropical days, cold nights, coastal climates, and record-breaking winter conditions.
A BOX that supports copper and fiber cables. Maintains a safe internal operating temperature. Boasts primary and redundant power systems. Opens with the turn of a physical key or encrypted Bluetooth technology.
BOX by Great Lakes—a portfolio of UL-listed, NEMA-rated cabinets and wall mounts that protect and create a safe operating environment for broadband, telecom and industrial equipment.

NATIONWIDE 5G DEPLOYMENT
5G service is available to more than 70% of the US population, and Great Lakes helped bring the rapidly expanding network to life by developing a custom, outdoor-rated cabinet. Prior to shipping, each cabinet is integrated with more than 30 components, including a power shelf, grounding equipment, and an air conditioner (or heat exchanger). Integration at Great Lakes allowed the cabinets to ship directly to contractor facilities across the county, creating an efficient and streamlined deployment of more than 3,000 5G cabinets.
AWARD-WINNING FIBER TO THE HOME
The Internet of Things is spurring the growth of smart homes, and internet service providers (ISP) are amping up fiber to the home (FTTH) infrastructure to accommodate the need for more reliable, efficient, and fast internet service. One regional ISP has received multiple awards for its existing service, and its commitment to increase FTTH led to a partnership with Great Lakes. As part of an 18-month rollout, outdoor-rated cabinets are integrated with power components, tested by certified electricians, and shipped bi-weekly.
PLUG & PLAY FOR FAST DEPLOYMENT
Like traditional indoor datacom applications, cabinets for outdoor use require cable management, power, airflow, and security infrastructure. Great Lakes can manage inventory of project-specific parts so that cabinets can be integrated to customer specifications before shipping. For easy ordering, Great Lakes assigns a single part number to the configured cabinet, while a serial number “encodes” each cabinet’s make, model, integration, and even shipping details. Ultimately, STACK reduces overall shipping costs and onsite labor requirements.
PACKED & READY TO GO
Whether outdoor cabinets need to ship to one location, a few, or hundreds, Great Lakes can work out the logistics to ensure the product arrives when and where required. Configured cabinets typically ship on a shock pallet, but crates and pallets with a ramp can also be used. Regardless of the shipping method, all components, especially those installed outside the cabinet, are protected during shipping. Specialty delivery services include white glove service, which provides packaging removal and disposal.
